Kulvinder Kaur Dhew was born in Wolverhampton, England. Following the completion of her BA (BFA) with Honours at Bath Spa University, Kulvinder founded and directed a small gallery in Bath. In 1992, after gaining her Masters degree in Painting from The Royal College of Art in London, Kulvinder received the prestigious Delfina Fellowship. During that two-years residency, her large scale paintings were collected by MTV Europe, Kazuo Ishiguru, The UK Department of Education and Science, and others. In 1994, Kulvinder became Head of Painting at The School of Art in Dunedin, New Zealand, and subsequently worked at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, where she developed her interests in, wilderness, forest fires, and climate change. Since moving to the United States in 2000, Kulvinder has worked as an educator, professional curator of contemporary art, and studio artist. She continues to explore environmental and cultural themes in her drawings, paintings, and prints.
